A two year old child is like a dough which can be molded beautifully. He is full of interest and enthusiasm to grasp and copy all that he sees. He wants to imitate you and follow you all around the house.

We must keep in mind that each child is unique in his own special way. The need is to recognize this basic nature and organize activities to enhance his motor and linguistic skills which will go a long way in overall development.

 Learning activities for 2 year olds are as follows;

 Play ground activities:

The best form of activity is in the fresh air where a child gets a sense of freedom of course under supervision. He can be encouraged to mix with other children. You could also carry a small Tiffin box where in he can learn to eat and share in a group. Get him to converse in his own little way and hear other children speak to enhance his linguistic skills.

 A visit to the zoo:

This would be excellent activity to make a child familiar with animals and their sounds.

 Throwing a ball or a ring:

This enhances the motor skills. You could have him put these rings in a stand or even crush some news paper into balls and throw them in to a dust bin. He will imitate you and thus enhance his motor skills.

 Learning activities while eating:

At this age a child is just old enough to feed himself even if it might be a messy affair. Allow him to peel a fruit like a banana and eat it bite by bite. He can be offered a plate of rice and a spoon and can help himself even if he spills it all over. Observe some safety measures like hiding sharp edges of the table and comfortable seating position.

 Play dough or sand and mud activities:

Anything close to nature improves a child's immunity .Dough and mud  activities enhances a child's imagination along with his motor skills. You can also teach shapes and count through these activities.

 Activities with water:

There are books and toys specially made for children to play with in the bath tub. Children can learn to recognize shapes and colors in a fun filled way. They can also play with empty plastic bottles and even imitate you washing their doll's clothes.

 Magic with colors:

Brightness always attracts children and anything when taught in a colorful manner seeps in easily. Coloring develops a child's hand movement and muscle formation. Finger painting gives wings to his imagination and they could even take hand and feet impressions on large sheets in various colors and preserve them for a life time.

 So these are a few activities which help enhance the motor and linguistic skills and cater for all round development of the child
